Calling all foodies and your families – loosen your jeans and prepare your taste buds for the Salisbury Food & Drink Festival. From 15 – 18 September, foodies and families will come together to celebrate the very best of local and regional produce, with all activities culminating in the ever popular Market Day on Sunday 18 September. Whether you’re a keen cook seeking culinary tips, a food lover looking to sample local produce, or if you’re just after a decent pint of ale, there’s something for you at Salisbury Food & Drink Festival.

Secure your Taste Trail experience by purchasing tokens from Salisbury Information Centre. This year, for the first time, Salisbury Food & Drink Festival is introducing a Taste Trail to give you the chance to try some of Salisbury’s delicious food and drink offerings.
You can purchase Taste Trail tokens from Salisbury Information Centre from mid-August. Tokens can then be traded in for dishes and drinks at participating venues from Thursday 15 – Sunday 18 September. Whether you’re looking to try a new tipple, snack on some light bites, or enjoy a whole smorgasboard of samples, the choice is yours. This is a unique tasting experience directed entirely by you.
Foodie Film: Charlie & The Chocolate Factory

This family adventure, based on the novel by Roald Dahl, is centred on an eccentric chocolatier, Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) and Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), a good-hearted boy from a poor family who lives in the shadow of Wonka’s extraordinary factory. Food & Drink Festival Market Day
Sunday 18 September
The ever popular Market Day returns on Sunday 18 September in the Market Square from 10am – 5pm. Spend the day indulging in the finest local delicacies and regional dishes while enjoying an exciting mix of free cookery demonstrations and live music. The Guildhall will once again be filled with workshops and activities that will delight children of all ages and free street theatre will keep the whole family entertained. Market Day Highlights
- The Comedy Waiters by Reckless Invention
11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, Market Place, 30 mins
This dinner service delight combines silent comedy, circus tricks and lively dance routines, bringing pure joy to the Market Square. A rousing soundtrack of all time classics sets the tone as the waiters flip plates and sculpt napkins. In a theatrical finale rain cascades from umbrellas as the waiters perform their own rendition of Singing in the Rain.

Sit back and relax to the laid-back sounds of acoustic musicians and singer songwriters from Salisbury Arts Centre’s Live Lunch sessions, who will keep visitors entertained in the Guildhall Square throughout the day.
- Family Fun with Food

Join Wacky Nation for a series of fun, free food contests for all the family. Try your hand at winning prizes or try to beat friends and family at amusing contests such as the World Cheese Fling or the UK Veg Throwing Championship.
Professional cookery demonstrations in the Market Place

A special cookery demonstration inspired by Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival 2016. Join Peter Vaughan as he draws inspiration from the Festival’s cultural focus on New Zealand and takes on the country’s most popular dishes. Learn to cook classics from aromatic shredded lamb with roasted aubergine sambal and seaweed salad to mussel fritters with pineapple and ginger salsa.
- Juanita Hennessey
12pm and 2pm
MasterChef finalist Juanita Hennessey visits Salisbury to demonstrate her favourite recipes. Renowned for her creativity in the kitchen, Juanita draws inspiration from the most unlikely of places – from colours and textures in paintings, to objects such as well-worn chopping boards, perfect for presenting cheese and bread. Find out how fresh ingredients, the right herbs and a dash of creativity can make your dishes stand out.
- Jeff the Chef
1pm and 3pm
Food & Drink Festival favourite Jeff the Chef never fails to delight crowds with his endless banter and cookery know-how. This year Jeff returns to the stage to share recipes from his childhood including lamb with a tomato sauce and fillets of south coast plaice, served with locally picked salad.
